Congratulations to all the students who had 95% attendance with no unexcused absences or one to two tardies, and no negative referrals or marks for the second quarter!
Next quarter the ante is for an ice cream sundae party! However, in addition to the requirements for quarter two, students will also need to pass Career and Life Planning or AVID with a "C" or better!

On behalf of the Freshman Academy, Happy New Year! Some quick reminders, this is the start of the second semester. As a result, some of your child's courses have changed. For example, Transition to High School is now Career and Life Planning and Ethnic Studies is now Philosophy. Same teachers, but different course.

Our first quarter incentive day was based on attendance. The students had to have no unexcused absences and less than three tardies in order to participate. A total of 77 students qualified! Our second quarter incentive day will focus on attendance as well as having no referrals or negative marks from not meeting the expectations of the academy. |
As part of Ethnic Studies, the students defined expectations as a class as well as created their own expectations for themselves. They also created a list of expectations they had for their teachers and parents that they wanted the adults in their lives to be aware of since they should not be the only ones with expectations when it comes to their education..

Please be aware that October 4th is the last day of the first quarter!
If you are unsure if your child is doing well in his/her classes, please check his/her grades on Infinite Campus as well as sign-up for email alerts from Google Classroom. You can also email your child's teachers.
If your child is not doing well, every Tuesday and Thursday there is Surfrider Support in the library from 2:10-3:15. The core freshman academy teachers are there to assist your child.
